[Also in Division B5] An athlete's shoe comprises a sole B to which is secured an upper having an outer abrasion-resistant layer, which may be of woven or knitted synthetic or natural fibres, an inner layer of material which is similar but of lower tensile strength and greater elasticity, and an intermediate layer of resilient, porous synthetic resin or rubber, e.g. foamed polyurethane. The inner and outer layer may be of cotton, polyvinylchloride, polyamide or polyester fibres. The layers are fused together by the application of heat and pressure. The upper material is reinforced at the toe 4, heel 6 and sides 5 and around the lacing opening 9. |
