Spun cover yarn has a core made of a thermosetting resin and a spun outer layer made of material which has a higher thermal strength than the core. Pref. the core is made from at least two spun polypropylene or polyethylene filaments and the outer layer is made of cotton fibres. Used in reinforcing fabrics for laundry and clothing articles. Material made of the spun yarns is flexible during processing into desired form and it assumes its rigid state following first heat treatment, e.g. ironing whereupon the state is resistant to subsequent wet and/or steam treatment.
