<p>The ladder is fabricated from hollow rectangular section longerons (3) and round hollow section rungs (2) in elastic material. It has tapered rung end plugs (13) to effect a wedged and glued (10) joint. The plugs have co-axial cylindrical leading (15) and tail (18) lengths separated by a tapered section (17). The former length is of a lesser dia. and leads the plug into the rung. The two lengths may be of a nominally lesser dia. and a nominally greater dia. respectively than the longeron bore. The end of the rung has a smooth cylindrical barrel length, and the longeron has an internal face opening (8) with milled edges. Joint assembly includes placing the adhesive coated plug in the rung end with the tail length (18) projecting. The tail is then placed in the longeron, and the longeron pushed towards the rung, until the plug is driven home.</p> |
