The socket has a flat section in a holder in an insulating case. The holder has springy strips pressed to the cap which has corresponding recesses. Both electrode terminals of the lamp are on one wide side of the cap, and corresponding contact plates are provided in the case. The springy strips are at the cap narrow sides, mirror symmetrical to each other. They generate a resultant pressure towards the contact plates. The lamp cap has corresponding chamfers. The two springy strips (20) have the snapping-in bent ends (27), and the two chamfers have the corresponding recesses (26). The sides between the chambers can be flat. Counter-sprung strips (21), opposite the contact plates (24), can be installed in the space between the side sprung strips (20).
