Fixing elements made of resilient material are applied to the wall being covered, and the wall panels are locked in position between them, as in 2827503. Here a flat configuration (1) containing a grid pattern of cross stems (4), for snapping wall panels in place, is cemented onto the wall. It is made of insulating material. Panels are then pressed in between the stem pieces. Foamed plastic panels may be used in the flat patterned configuration, or lengths of textile wall covering material.
