PURPOSE:In an air valve type variable choke carburetor, to reduce time change of precision of fuel-air ratio control by bearing the shaft of a needle on the back face of an air valve and inserting the needle in a fuel nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A bracket 15 is fitted to the back face of an air valve 12, the shaft of a jet needle 16 is born by the bracket 15, and the tip end portion of the needle 16 is inserted in a fuel nozzle 17. Attending on the rotation of the air valve 12, the needle 16 penetrates deep into and retreats from the nozzle 17, to variably control the effective cross-sectional area of the nozzle 17. Therefore, the effective cross- sectional area of a fuel jet portion 35 formed of the needle 16 and the nozzle 17 is proportional to the stroke of the needle 16, i.e. to the opening of the valve 12: the area increases with the opening of the valve 12. As a result, this direct interlocking provides reduced motion transmission errors and enhanced durability.
