PURPOSE:To provide a superior leakproof layer-built dry cell by coating wax on a plurality of layer-built cells, surrounding the outside of the layer-built cells with a thermally shrinkable tube, mounting heat resistant sheath material around the tube, and heating it at higher than wax melting point. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of cells 1 are stacked, and immersed in molten wax bath heated at higher than 100 deg.C. to thereby form a wax layer 3 thereon. The outside of the layer-built cells thus stacked is coated by a stack gromment 5 of thermally shrinkable resin tube. After the layer-built cells thus coated is inserted into a sheathed can 9 together with a terminal plate 8 or the like provided with snap terminal, it is further reheated to remelt the wax layer 3. The terminal plate 8 employs heat resistant and electric insulating material such as thermosetting resin plate or the like. Thus, it can eliminate the pin hole and crack of the wax layer 3, and improve the sealing with the current collecting plate 2 to provide a superior leakproof layer-built dry cell. |
