PURPOSE:To realize a division terminating unit which features a simple constitution and is suited for the large power use by connecting the 2nd waveguide featuring a balanced impedance matching to the waveguide drawn out of the slow-wave circuit witha delay of the central axis. CONSTITUTION:Waveguide 2 featuring the same cross-section as waveguide 1 drawn out of the slow-wave circuit (not shown in the figure) is partitioned airtight with the ceramic plate featuring thickness l2 identical to 1/4 waveguide length. One of the partitioned waveguides is closed with distance l3 to secure the water flowing with water inlet 4 and outlet 5 provided each; and the other side is connected airtight to waveguide 1 at distance l1 by shifting the central axis by narrow- width side direction S1 and wide-width side direction S2 each. The optimum value is obtained through experiments for l1, S1 and S2 respectively. In this constitution, the electromagnetic wave is introduced to waveguide 1, and this electromagnetic wave is never reflected over the active frequency band of the traveling-wave tube since the impednce matching is secured over a wide range but is absorbed into the water. And the division terminating unit can be applied effectively to a large amount of power particularly by securing a larger sectional area for wave guide tube 2 than 1. |
