The barrel has a reduced number of welds and is built up from sections. The middle part of the barrel is a shell section (11), produced from a sheet by rolling and longitudinal welding. At either end of the shell section, the face ends are welded along a circumferential weld (13). The face ends are produced from plane sheets by deep drawing in three steps. The first step produces a cylindrical recess with the edges in the cylindrical shape folded over by 90 degs. The second step produces an outward bulging shape (12) on the bottom section of the cylindrical recess and the third step folds over the cylindrical part (13) in an inward direction, producing a reinforcing bead which protects the face ends against mechanical damage and makes the barrel suitable for upright stacking.
|
