Colouring red-emitting phosphor with cadmium sulphide selenide - by chemical pptn. on surface of phosphor particles and heating

Prodn. of a phosphor (I) coloured with Cd(SSe) pigment (II) is effected by depositing >=1 (II) component on the surface of the (I) particles by chemical pptn., followed by heating. Process is simple and suitable for mass prodn. The (II) deposited adheres well and is highly stable. The prods. are specified for use in the mfr. of colour-picture tube screens with red-emitting (lanthanide oxide or oxysulphide) phosphors.
