PROCESS FOR PREPARING BENZYL-PYRIMIDINES

Compounds of the formula in which R<1> represents amino or -NHR<3>; R<2> represents amino, pyrrolo, pyrrolidino, piperidino, -NHR<3> or -N(R<3>)2; R<3> represents C1-4-alkyl or C1-4-alkenyl and Z represents hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, pyrrolo, pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, R<3>, OR<3> or -N(R<3>)2, are prepared by hydrolysis of corresponding compounds whose amino groups in the pyrimidine ring and/or whose substituents R<1> and R<2> are present in the form of groups which can be hydrolysed to amino and/or R<3>HN groups. The compounds are distinguished by antibacterial activity or a synergistic effect in combination with sulphonamides and good tolerability.
