The heald frames (1) are driven via cams (4) which are arranged independently from one another on an oscillating shaft (5) and which have segmental cutouts (18). The shaft (5) contains means (19) for coupling the respective cam to the shaft. These means contain sprung strips (23) and rollers (24) which, in normal operation, engage into the segmental cutouts (18) of the cams (4) during the period when the heald frames are at a standstill. Each cam (4) is provided with an element (25) which is kinematically connected to the device for stopping the drive of the weaving machine and which, in the event of a fault, when the roller (24) is not in the engaged position, actuates the stopping device during the period when the heald frames (1) are at a standstill. This ensures increased operating reliability, so that no breaks of the members of this device and no damage to the weave pattern occur. <IMAGE>
