The electrically-operated valve opens progressively to regulate the supply to the burner of a water-heater, domestic boiler etc, having one or more excitation windings and a single armature actuating the valve plug. The plug comprises a small-diameter section mounted directly on the armature and a larger-diameter section through which an axial stem passes, fixed to the small section. Two large plugs moving simultaneously rest on seats in a cylindrical sleeve inside the valve housing and regulate two separate gas outlet passages. The larger-diameter plug section incorporates a high-output plug (20c) regulating an independent gas outlet passage (18) to the burners in the valve housing (5b).
