<p>A contact apparatus for contacting liquid-liquid or liquid-solid combinations comprises a stationary drum contg. a rotor with scoops or buckets for the materials to be contacted. The rotor comprises a horizontal shaft, supported at both ends, and a pair of end plates fixed to the shaft and held together by clamping bars parallel to the shaft; a series of transverse discs are spaced at intervals along the clamping bars between the end plates and carry the internal buckets. Pref. the discs have openings for seating the buckets, the openings of one disc being staggered angularly relative to those of the adjacent discs, so that each bucket extends from a first disc through a second disc to a third disc.</p> |
