<p>The system incorporates a weighing station which bears the full wt. of the carriers and their load as they move through the station and is equipped with a wt. transducer which gives an electrical output related to the imposed wt. To ensure that the full wt. of the carrier is born by the weigh device without disturbances due to vibration or oscillation, the carrier is transferred from the conveying track onto a flexible endless element which moves around the weigh station or part of it. The flexible element is pref. in the form of two chains of rollers linked together with a split in between them through which the hanging element of the carrier can pass whilst the carriage spans the split and is entirely supported on the chains. The chain linkage is such that there is a positive location of the carriage onto the chains and, since the rollers enable the chains to move freely, the motion of the chains is determined by the motion of the carriage, i.e. the conveying system determines the speed of the chains. The chains themselves are supported by a support element which is a part of the weighing mechanism. The weighing device can be incorporated into, for example, a dead fowl conveying system and will weigh accurately and consistently without being affected by the environment or the vibrations to which the conveying system itself may be subjected.</p> |
