The snap-type clamping ring is for a stethoscope, and is easily fixed in place when fitting the membrane by light pressure on the breastpiece, holding the membrane firmly against the latter. The ring can be of metal or plastic. The design avoids the risk of distortion of the ring when fitting or removing a diaphragm, as frequently occurs with the screw-on type.
