PURPOSE:To prepare geldanamycin and other three antibiotics, by the use of a novel strain capable of producing geldanamycin, etc. CONSTITUTION:To prepare geldanamycin, 17-O-demethylgeldanamycin, 6-(3- methyl-2-butenyl)-indole, and enterocin, separately or as a mixture, by the aerobical cultivation of a novel strain streptomyces hygroscopicus B-434 (actinomyces) at 35- 45 deg.C pref. in a liquid medium containing a carbon source such as D-glucose, a nitrogen source such as soybean flour, etc. by submerged technique, if necessary using a silicone oil or a vegetable oil as a defoaming agent. |
