The inductive displacement-detector (1) for i.c. engines has a housing (2) containing coils (3) in containers (4). Cooling water enters and leaves at the two nipples (6, 7) respectively. The water fills the spaces (8), cooling the coils. Maintaining a steady temp. allows quicker, simpler and more reliable measurements. Jigs need not be altered as the water-cooled device is unchanged in respect of dimensions. It is esp. useful in assessing the effects of improvements to engines.
|
