2 - Methyl - 2 - n - propyl - 1,3 - propandiol dicarbamate is prepared by reacting 2-methyl-2-n-propyl-1,3-propandiol with urea, wherein the dicarbamation reaction is carried out in two stages employing in the first stage a molar ratio of urea to diol of less than 2 and a temperature above 120 DEG C., and in the second stage a molar ratio of urea to diol greater than 2 at a temperature of 100-120 DEG C. |
