Feeding tyre-beading strip onto beading core - from revolving drum with axis perpendicular to axis of support disc

Appts. for applying a profiled strip of vulcanisable rubber onto the beading core for the prodn. of a pneumatic tyre comprises a revolving disc on which the beading core is mounted, the dia. of the disc extending beyong the core at least as far as the width of the vulcanisable strip. A revolving drum, having its axis perpendicular to the axis of the revolving disc receives the strip in an extended straight condition and passes it onto the revolving disc; the space between the rim of the drum and face of the disc corresponds to the cross-section of the strip. The drum may either be shaped as a conical frustum in co-operation with a flat disc or as a cylindrical drum in co-operation with a shallow conical disc.
