The container comprises two lids (11, 12) which can be pivoted about a bearing point (15, 16), are of identical shape and size and in their closed state enclose at least one receiving case (13) for any desired objects. It is intended that when the lids are in the open position, the objects, for example writing and drawing pencils or cigarettes, can be easily grasped and removed from the container and put back in. For this purpose, when the lids (11, 12) are opened the cases (13) are inevitably brought into a raised position in which they are aligned in an angular position which corresponds to an equiangular division of the total opening angle of the two lids. <IMAGE>
