Bursts transmitted from different ground stations are combined, in time-staggered fashion to form a block, at a satellite and are retransmitted therefrom. A ground station transmits an initial access signal and monitors the position of this signal in a received block to adjust the theoretical phase of a burst to be transmitted. Access time is reduced by adjusting the phase first to a delayed intermediate theoretical phase and then converting it to the theoretical phase proper under programme control.
|
