Process for the preparation of vinyl polymers peroxidised at a chain end

Vinyl polymers peroxidised at a chain end are obtained by polymerisation of one or a number of vinyl monomers in the presence of zinc diethyl and of azobisisobutyronitrile and treatment of the polymer obtained with a peroxidising agent. The polymerisation is performed with the aid of a radical initiator. The polymers which are peroxidised at a chain end can be converted by hydrolysis into corresponding hydroperoxidised polymers. These peroxidised and hydroperoxidised polymers can be employed as radical initiators for the production of block copolymers.
