<p>Methyl-4 pentene-1 is copolymsd. with up to 10 wt. % of another a-alkene above room temp. in the presence of hydrogen and a Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising T1Cl3 and an alkyl aluminium using a T1:Al ratio 1:1-100, the reactn. being characterised by being effected (a) at 90-150 degrees C, (b) in the presence of an inert gas chosen from N, He, Ne, Ar and/or Krypton and (c) under a partial pressure of inert gas of 0.1-17 atm., of hydrogen of 0.01-10 atmos. and partial pressures of inert gas, hydrogen and methyl-4- pentene 1 whose sum is 3-20 atmos. Prods. are used for injection moulding, e.g. laboratory, medical and clinical transparent items. The polymers are obtd. in high yields and have a high degree of crystallinity.</p> |
