<p>An area is supervised by sensors connected to a central unit for supply, monitoring and testing of their readiness for use. A computer with a store and logic unit is connected to the central unit for making decisions whether a false or a fire alarm is tripped. It locates the centre of fire in the monitored area and makes available information on combustible materials in the area of fire, and thus on the equipment necessary to fight the fire, and on the place where such equipment is available. It also provides information on paths of approach, retreat and escape, smoke exhaust and ventilation, and water pressure.</p> |
