New bis-pyridylamine derivs. are cpds. of formula (I). In (I) R is =6C alkyl or alkoxy, benzyl or phenyl; each X is halogen; q is 0 or 1, or 2; r is 0, 1, 2 or 3; and s is 0 or 1; provided that q+r+s is not 0. (I) are pesticides active against insects, mites and ticks. They are partic. active against sheep blow-flies (Lucilia spp.) and has prolonged stability in contact with wool, so that frequent repetition of treatment is not required. Specific (I) include 3,3',5,5'-tetrachloro-2,2',6-trifluoro-6'-(4-chlorophenoxy)-4,4'-- bispyridylamine. In an example, this is prepd. by reacting 4-amino-3,5-dichloro-2-fluoro-6-(4-chlorophenoxy)pyridine with NaH in dimethylformamide, then treating with 3,5-dichloro-2,4,6-trifluoropyridine. |
