<p>Polyenes of formula (I) are new:- In the formula Y is 2-3C alkylene; T is -CO-, -NHCONH-, -CONH-, or -NH-, A is a polyvalent is not >36C organic gp. free of reactive olefinic unsaturation chosen from opt. substd. aryl, aralkyl and/or (cyclo)alkyl. These gps. are bonded to X and/or T by -O-, -S-, carboxylate, carbonate, carbonyl, sulphone, (substd.) urethane, (substd) area, (substd) aminde or (substd) amine; X is -(CH2)dCR1=CHR, -O(CH2)dCR1=CHR, S(CH2)dCR1=CHR, -(CH2)dC=CR1-O(CH2)dC=CR, -S(CH2)dC=CR and/or -OC(O) CR1=CHR; R and R1 are H or Me; d is 1-6; e is 0-1 y is 1-10; and n is 1-30 with the proviso that when n is >=2. Y in each repeating unit is not necessarily the same and T may be a gp. T-V where V is the residue of a dish after removal of an H from the OH gp. through which each Y is bonded to a neighbouring unit and also bonded with the terminal Ae-Xy gps.</p> |
