Recently-filled capsules are impelled against one surface of an electrically charged screen. Air is drawn through the screen from the other surface to draw off dust released from the surface of the capsules. The capsules fall into a delivery passage which carries them to a buffing drum where any residual dust is removed from the capsule prior to polishing. Pref. the drum is rotatable and is lined with a napped fabric e.g. a polyester pile fabric. If desired a second smaller tube having a napped outer cover fits within the first tube. Pref. the drum is rotated by a pair of rollers in which the drum is cradled, a motor driving one of the rollers. The appts. is used to clean and polish capsules which have been filled with finely divided material e.g. powdered pharmaceuticals. The appts. efficiently cleans and polishes the capsules including the crevice around the middle of the capsule. The use of a napped fabric in the polishing drum is cheaper than the use of lamb's wool belts.
|
