A container, in particular for a computer diskette, comprises a left-hand body part and a right-hand body part, which can be coupled to each other by peripheral flanges. In the centre of each body part there is a cylinder. Due to the rigid structure of the peripheral flanges and of the cylinders, a computer diskette placed in the container is protected against damage caused by physical factors, such as for example, dust, dirt, moisture, sunlight etc. A flexible tongue plate with a semicircular cut-out in the centre of the upper end is connected to the lower part of the right-hand body half to make it easy to remove diskettes or place them in the container after use once the latter has been opened. <IMAGE>
