<p>The pressurised fluid actuated support column can be altered in length. The column has a sliding inner tube held in an outer tube. The inner tube (1) houses a piston (6) with one end forming the boundary of a pressurised chamber within the tube. The other end of the piston rests against a stop (5) in the outer tube (3). A locking arrangement forms a detachable connection of both tubes (1, 3). The connector is formed by a split claw coupling. One part (2) of the claw coupling is moved along an external screw thread on the outer tube (1). The second part (13) of the claw coupling is held on the outer tube.</p> |
