NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [wherein k, l, m and n are each 0-4, k+l+m+n>=1; R<1> is a (substituted) alkyl or aryl; M is Si, Ge or Sn; and Y is a halogen atom, a hydroxyl, an aryloxy, an alkoxy, a trialkyl-, triaryl-, trialkoxy- or triaryloxy-siloxyl, trityloxy or an acyloxyl]. EXAMPLE:A compound of formula II. USE:A recording material of an optical recording medium using semiconductor laser beams. PREPARATION:A naphthalocyanine derivative of formula III is reacted with a chlorosilane of the formula: (R<2>)3SiCl (wherein R<2> is an alkyl, an aryl, an alkoxyl or an aryloxyl), a silanol of the formula: (R<3>)3SiOH (wherein R<3> is R<2>), an alcohol of the formula: R<4>OH (wherein R<4> is an alkyl or an aryl) or a compound of the formula: R<5>COX (wherein R<5> is an alkyl, and X is a halogen atom, a hydroxyl or an acyloxyl).
