The inclined grate is formed by fixed steps (9, 11, 13 and 15) and by movable steps (8, 10, 12 and 14) arranged partially overlapping and alternately one after another. The movable steps are driven with a continuous reciprocating movement between the fixed steps, likewise alternately, some (8 and 12) in one direction and others (10 and 14) in the opposite direction, by at least one device for guidance and drive in translational motion (16 and 17). On this grate, the waste is pushed and swept progressively from one step to another as its combustion takes place and the residues of this combustion cannot dwell or accumulate on the steps. <IMAGE>
