<p>1535799 Cutting apparatus S & S CORRUGATED PAPER MACHINERY CO Inc 14 Dec 1976 [13 Jan 1976] 52192/76 Heading B4B An apparatus for longitudinally slitting a relatively wide web 20 of sheet material, e.g. corrugated cardboard, into a plurality of narrower webs comprises first and second stations 11, 12 each including first and second tool mounting head pairs 15, 16 and 23, 24 slidably mounted on rotary drive shafts 13, 14 and 21, 22 respectively, power driven means 50 for adjusting the position of the head pairs of the first station while the head pairs of the second station are slitting a web as it moves through the apparatus and vice-versa. The means 50 comprises a carrier 51 movable along guides rails 52, 53 via a lead screw 56 and plates 61 and 76 mounted on rails 63, 78 slidable in bearings on the carrier. In operation, when it is required to move a pair of heads along a shaft, the plates, e.g. 76, are moved by a ram 80 to engage the selected heads and then the carrier moved by the lead screw to thereby slide the selected heads to their new position. The plates are then withdrawn and the carrier returned to a parking position.</p> |
