PURPOSE:To provide the subject alloy for use in cutting, excellent in wear resistance, which is prepared by coating the surface of a superhard alloy consisting of carbides (nitrides) and carbonitrides belonging to the group IVa'Va or VIa of the periodic table and Fe, CO and the like, with Zr or Hf oxycarbonitrides, and further coating the thus coated alloy with alumina. |
