The retractable aircraft undercarriage comprises separate units for each side. Each unit has one or more wheels (2) on a transverse axle (1) mounted in fore and aft trunnions (4) in the main leg (5). The main leg is flexibly connected to a vertical pivot (6) housed in the fuselage. A shock absorber (8) and an operating jack (15), both with flexible end connections, are so arranged that the former acts as radius arm during extension and retraction. At the same time, the wheel is tilted transversely by means of a crossbar (23) from the jack cylinder to a lever (24).
