Servo unit to maintain constant tension in wire thread - uses spools fixed to external axle with intermediate multi-disc brakes

Unit consists of spools of coiled wire; external sleeves; a disc with brake, rigidly fastened to an axle; and guide pulleys, collecting pulley and a take-off pulley. The spools (1) are rigidly fastened to external sleeves (5), held on the axle (7), via intermediate multi disc brakes (11), immersed in oil. The brakes are engaged by the piston (21), positioned within the axle (7). The piston engages on a plate (24), which engages the first brake (11). The other end of the brake in turn contacts a second piston (22), to engage the second brake (11). This is in contact with a plate (25), connected via a piston (23) to a second plate (27), to engage the third brake (111). Useful in mfr. of tube products with strengthened layers.
