Reinforcing rods 15 (Fig. 6) are held in place by the inflatable tubes and the bag 9, having a load spreading plastics plate 24, is secured by touch and close fastener 25a, 25b, 26a, 26b to the vest. The vest may be in a single piece with adjustable fasteners or in two separate pieces.
