<p>The machine for filling down into packages (12) has a chamber (10) filled with the down, inside which rotates a paddle wheel (16) so that the down is pushed through an opening (20) at one end into a perforated filling shaft (38) assisted by suction. A double acting piston (34) moves down from above to compress the charge (66) inside the shaft. The action of the piston is synchronised with a slider (64) which is retracted by another piston inside an adjacent cylinder (68) to allow the charge to be pushed into a package (12) underneath. Any down remaining in the shaft after the slider has closed again is blown back again into the container. A control circuit operates the suction, blowing, filling and compressing cycle.</p> |
