<p>The earthing stake is in two parts, a conducting stake (7) having a circular cross-section of metal having the required corrosion resistance, and a separate short cylinder or cap (11) fitting closely over the head of the stake. The cap has a slot cut into it at an angle which allows easy insertion of the cable to be earthed. The material of the cap is such that as the stake is hammered into the ground with the cable in place the slot is deformed trapping the cable. The stake is tapered (9, 12) as it enters the cap to prevent expansion of the cap as it impacts upon the stake with consequent loss of electrical and mechanical integrity with the stake.</p> |
