<p>Oxyacetylene welding is achieved between Al parts or between al and another metal which is opt. a ferrous metal, where a welding powder is applied to the joint. The powder contains 20% NaCl, 30% LiCl, 49% borax powder, and 1% ethyl chloride. The powder is pref. heated to 910 degrees C so it melts and becomes colourless; and drops of Al with a purity of 99% may be fed into the molten powder during welding. Used for welding al to Al; al to ferrous metale excluding cast iron which has too high a % C; Al to Cu alloys; or Al to Ni alloys. The process can be aplied in all industries, esp. the mfr. of motor cars; mopeds; motor cycles; aeroplanes; house fittings; electric motors. The workpieces do not require to be joined together, e.g. by rivets, screws or folds prior to welding.</p> |
