<p>1481092 Purifying coke oven gas SIMONCARVES Ltd 29 July 1974 [24 Aug 1973] 33376/74 Heading C5E In a process for the removal of ammonia, hydrogen sulphide and prussic acid from coke oven gas, the gas 1 is fed first to a scrubber 2 where HCN and H 2 S are removed by scrubbing with alkaline solution, and then to a second scrubber 10 where NH 3 is removed by scrubbing with inorganic acid; the used alkaline wash liquid is fed to an oxidiser 5 where H 2 S is oxidized to sulphur by gassing the solution with air, and then passed with the used inorganic wash liquid 13 to an incinerator 14 where they are burnt using as combustion air the exhaust 7 from the oxidizer 5, the waste gases from the incinerator 14 passing into an acid recovery device 15 where the inorganic acid is removed from the waste gases and recycled to the ammonia scrubber 10.</p> |
