Connection of winding ends to commutator segments - using ultrasonic welding technique with very localised heating

To reduce the number of operations necessary when connecting the armature winding ends to the commutator segments, the joint is made by an ultrasonic welding appts. This gives localised heating the thus distortion of the commutator is avoided. Using this technique the amount of preparation is reduced as is also the subsequent cleaning in comparison with solder methods of jointing. The welding can be carried out using the type of winding end positioning equipment developed for conventional jointing methods.
