The bag opening device has the bag (1) conveyed between pulling members (2) which fit inside the open end of the bag. These members rotate in a plane at an angle to the conveying path (3). During the operation, the bag is supported by two rotating discs (6). The direction (7) of operation of the pulling members (2) applied to the discs forms a secant to the surface of the discs. Each is inset in a recess in its guide plate (4) and is mounted on a spindle passing through the plate. A spring around the spindle pushes the disc towards the pulling member (2).
