The combustion engine has separate chambers for compression (3) and expansion (4) and a rotary valve (1) containing a number of cells (2) which receive the compressed medium which is then heated and transferred to the expansion chamber. This transfer takes place after at least two working cycles of the engine. The number of heating cells (2) is such that, at max. engine speed, there is sufficient time available for adequate heating of the medium, or, in the case of an i.c. engine, for adequate ignition of the mixture. The rotary valve and/or the valve-housing wall (5a) covering the cell opening (2a) may be arranged to act as heat exchanger.
|
