Tyre bead envelope presser for assembly drum - has self contained drive economising time and eliminating handwork

A tyre bead processing device for a tyre assembly drum includes an arrangement by which the layers for the bead reinforcement are turned over the bead ring. It is supported on the assembly drum shaft and has a drive for the energising of the various motions. The device includes a side cylinder built up from segments held together by an annular spring, and fixed securely to bars assembled in the hollow flange of a hub on the shaft. The hub can be moved axially along the drum shaft so as to extend the segment bars radially. The layers for enveloping the bead ring are turned over by bowed, roughly sickle-shaped levers, the butts of which are each attached at a pivot point on a radially extending bar; the free ends of the levers being secured to a pressing ring enclosing the circumferential segments. The bowed levers for turning over the bead layers and the levers for the radial motion of the segment bars are actuated through levers in slots in the segment bars, by two arrangements of rollers assembled on the hub of the device. Device is applicable to the prodn. of tyres for heavy agricultural machinery such as combines and tractors, etc. The tyres are of multi-layered cord fabric and manual operations are eliminated whilst high quality products are assured. The machine allows the prodn. of bead shoulders of =40 mm, and also it can turn over folds onto the face of the drum =150 mm long.
