The automatic punching machine fitted with a ram guide system has improved absorption capability of longitudinal and lateral forces. The punching machine has an under frame with columns forming the guide elements for a three-part ram. The ram consists of a middle part with attached side parts. This enables the dismantling of the ram in the direction of the main axis. Each of the columns has a pair of segment-type guide elements arranged at right angles. The guide elements extend over the entire length of the ram and are fitted to the corresponding carrying surfaces by distancing slats.
