<p>The propelling pencil has a mechanism indexing the lead forward, this being held in a clamp. The forward end of the lead is guided in a tube in the pencil tip, and which slides in an internal recess between two stops as the lead wears away. The distance between the stops (26, 27) is adjustable. Where the pencil has a tip screwing onto the body, one stop (27) can be on the body (1) and the other (26) on the tip (2), an adjustment being provided for the distance between body and tip. A calibration can be provided on the outside of the tip, to show how far it is screwed into the body. A spring (32) can be fitted between tip and body, to prevent the former turning.</p> |
