<p>The hand grenade has a lever (4) and strap (6) which are released when the pin is withdrawn so that a spring (8) forces a hammer (9) against an ignition capsule (10) so as to actuate a multi-section charge (13) down the centre, as in 1578458. Inner and outer sleeves (14, 19) are released by a ring (18) which melts so that a spring (20) forces the outer sleeve (19) downwards to detonate a charge (23) below. Between the first delaying charge (13) and the detonator is a flop (17) between the sleeves (14, 19) which is forced inwards by the detonation. Between the charge (13) and the flap is throttling valve (15) with holes (16) passing through it sideways. Between the inner sleeve (14) and the detonater carrier (22) is heat barrier plastics ring(24).</p> |
