Dishwasher with spray arm directed toward crockery tray - automatically adjusts spray pressure in dependence on load in tray

The dishwasher machine is provided with a spray arm (21) which is rotatably mounted beneath the crockery basket (13). It can be vertically displaced in dependence on the load of same by the incoming wash liquid which raises the spray arm against a stop (32) on the base (14) of the basket. When it is raised the arm releases an annular gap (37) between the supply pipe and the arm through which the liquid can flow into the wash container in the machine. With a light load on the tray the gap is large and thus the water pressure is low. With a heavier load, indicating dirty pans and dishes the gap is narrower and thus the spray pressure is increased.
