The ejected flare which can be fired from a helicopter, out of a firing device, has an ejected flare casing which is composed of a plurality of detachable parts and from which a flare (21) with a parachute (21d) is separated during flight by detonating an ejection charge, and the flare charge is initiated at the same time. During the separation of the ejected flare casing, a supporting parachute (24) initially deploys on which there is held by means of a self-actuating holding device (23), inter alia the flare parachute (21d). After separating from one another, the two parachutes float down to earth with their supported loads. Ejected flares of the type according to the invention are particularly suitable for landing site illumination during rescue operations and are designed in such a manner that their parts which are not burnt up or destroyed when the flare charge burns can be reused. <IMAGE>
